About the exhibition

For four winters Morag Innes walked the Forth coast from Cramond to St Abbs before dawn, waiting for the haar — the sea fog that rolls in off the North Sea and takes the horizon with it.

Haar is her first solo exhibition in twelve years: ten large pigment prints in which piers, lights, boats and people thin out into the same pale grey. Nothing is staged and nothing is added. Innes works with a medium-format camera on a tripod, often making a single exposure in a morning.

The prints are made by the artist in Edinburgh and hung low, at the height of the sea wall, so the fog sits at eye level. The exhibition continues upstairs with contact sheets and her field notebooks from 2021 onwards.

Every print in Haar is signed and numbered by the artist, with a certificate of authenticity. We deliver framed works in person across Scotland and ship insured worldwide.

We are an Own Art gallery: spread the cost of a work up to £5,000 over ten months, interest free, subject to status.
